Modeling field scale nitrogen non-point source pollution (NPS) fate and transport: Influences from land management practices and climate

چکیده

The use of nitrogen (N) fertilizer marked the start modern agriculture that boosted food production to help alleviate shortages across globe but at cost severe environmental issues and critical stress agroecosystem. This paper was aimed determining fate transport nitrite ammonia under future climate projections by adapting recommended land management practices are supposed reduce nitrate N in surface water state government target. To accomplish these objectives, a fully-distributed physical-based hydrologic model, MIKE SHE, hydrodynamic river 11, were coupled with ECO-Lab simulate different forms agro-ecosystem Upper Sangamon River Basin (USRB). Twelve (12) combinations simulated evaluate USRB from 2020 2050. Under current management, concentration expected exceed EPA limit 10 ppm up 2.5% days simulation period. Regulating application rates approximately 50% rate will ensure this not be exceeded future. Implementing cover cropping alone can potentially decrease concentrations 33% dry saturated zone projections. By combining regulated 67% compared historic baseline. modeling framework developed used study effectiveness schemes reducing nutrient load our groundwater.

non point source pollution modeling and critical area priority for environmental management of tajan watershed

non-point pollution are an important factor in determining water quality and eutrophication of fresh water. the principle causes of this issue is high concentrations of nutrients in the water especially nitrogen and phosphorus. change of land use particularly affected on water nitrate load. therefore, understanding the correlations between land use and nitrate pollutant is a priority in order t...

مدل سازی آلودگی غیرنقطه ای با استفاده از سیستم اطلاعات جغرافیایی (GIS) برای ارائه بهترین شیوه های مدیریت (BMP) در حوضه آبخیز گرگانرود

The most important pollutants that cause water pollution are nitrogen and phosphorus from agricultural runoff called Non-Point Source Pollution (NPS). To solve this problem, management practices known as BMPs or Best Management Practices are applied. One of the common methods for Non-Point Source Pollution prediction is modeling. By modeling, efficiency of many practices can be tested before ap...

Strategic management of non-point source pollution from sewage sludge.

In the UK, the recycling of sewage sludge to land is expected to double by 2006 but the security of this route is threatened by environmental concerns and health scares. Strategic investment is needed to ensure sustainable and secure sludge recycling outlets. At present, the security of this landbank for sludge recycling is determined by legislation relating to nutrient rather than potentially ...

Measuring Impervious Surfaces for Non-point Source Pollution Modeling

The US EPA has reported non-point source pollution (NPS), which includes eroded sediments, toxic contaminants, nutrients, debris, and other pollutants, to be the number one threat to surface water quality nationwide. Numerous studies have established a direct relationship between the amount of impervious surface within a watershed and pollution of its surface waters. However, without detailed d...

Contracting for Non - Point - Source Pollution Abatement

This paper presents an incentive scheme to control agricultural non-point-source pollution. The analysis is based on a nested agent framework with three parties; farmers, a country’s government, and the governments of all countries that affect each other’s environmental quality. Unlike previous analysis of incentive schemes to control agricultural pollution, we suggest non-individual contracts ...
